Building End-to-End Visibility with ThousandEyes: From Initial Deployment to Fully Customized Dashboards
As organizations increasingly rely on SaaS and cloud-based services, the ability to monitor networks you depend on—but don’t directly control—has never been more important. ThousandEyes helps bridge that gap, offering deep visibility into both internal and external dependencies.
In this session, you’ll learn how to deploy ThousandEyes from the ground up—including agent installation, creating synthetic application and network tests, building dashboards, and troubleshooting using real-world outage snapshots. Through hands-on interaction, you’ll gain the practical skills needed to turn ThousandEyes data into actionable insights across your digital environment.
At its foundation, ThousandEyes is a Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) Engine. ThousandEyes uses vantage points or “Agents” to emulate and capture real end user experiences. Each agent generates its own synthetic traffic to interact with the network and application stack at every layer of the OSI model to gain deep analytical insights into how an application is performing and detect if and where a breakdown has occurred.
Prerequisites
- Basic understanding of networking and networking concepts.
- General understanding of ThousandEyes including agents and tests. If you need quick review please check out the ThousandEyes Getting Started Guides
Your Lab Journey
This 4 hour lab is divided into 7 working labs. During the course of this guided instructor led lab you will receive working knowledge to go and complete the next lab. The ThousandEyes instance will be active for another 30 days after the delivery of this lab. Proctors will also be available to answer any questions you may have and align you to the correct resources as necessary.
During this 4-hour lab, you will have the opportunity to deploy a ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent locally the lab workstation. You will deploy visibility testing to SaaS, Collaboration, and Remote Access Applications. You will use the following tools and platforms:
- ThousandEyes Dashboard
- Google Chrome
- Webex
- ThousandEyes Public Snapshots of Real Outages
After each lab, there will be a challenge section allowing users to apply their knowledge of the previously covered lab.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this lab, you will be able to:
- Understand how ThousandEyes can help gain visibility end to end.
- Deploy and operationalize ThousandEyes Vantage Points.
- Isolate Faults that may be affecting end user experience.
- Understand ThousandEyes and Cisco Integrations.
- Identify considerations that should be taken if any hybrid work users are working remotely.
